About Me
My name is Elizabeth Keefe.
I am a self-taught web designer and PHP/MySQL programmer. Since 1999, I have been the owner and sole developer for the thebabycorner.com. I began Baby Corner as a personal hobby due to my interest in learning how to design a web page, and my newest interest of pregnancy and babies with the birth of my first daughter. The site began with one interactive tool – a baby photo contest. As my interests grew into learning how to code, and at the request of the website visitors, I continued growing the site and programmed many features including a custom built content management system, interactive tools and calculators, and a complete admin back-end that allows for easy maintenance of the web site. The site is now a top online pregnancy and parenting destination.
I have learned quite a bit in my many years of Internet business experience including web design, online marketing (SEO and Paid advertising), member acquisitions and retention as well as how to monetize websites. With my passion of web design, and programming last year I decided to enter the freelance web design and programming field and offer my services and years of proffessional experience and create websites for others. Since then, I have worked on about 25 different websites, some built from scratch, others extended with features and tools, and others' have done complete design face lifts. In addition to web design, programming, and running an Internet business, I have written many parenting articles for online and print magazines, including a featured article published in ePregnancy Magazine about labor and childbirth for first time dads. I have several articles that can be found at other online parenting websites including, “Getting Babies to Sleep Their Own,” and “Baby’s First Thanksgiving Dinner” – an article that teaches parents how to make homemade Thanksgiving dinner for baby. In May of 2008, I wrote a foreward for the book "Your New Baby: Insider Secrets to Save Thousands on All Your Baby’s Needs" - a new parenting book about budgeting and money savings tips for new parents.
When I’m not busy transforming my ideas into realities through web design, and programming, I enjoy spending time with my family. And when it’s not below 0 degrees outside (remember, we live in NY), we like to spend out time outside doing things like camping in the Adirondacks, taking the canoe out on the lake hiking and fishing.
